App Recommendation Tool

Knowing what app to use for your desired learning activity that will work on the device you have is often a difficult question to answer. New apps are released daily and some apps are only available on certain devices. Ed Tech Teacher has created a great  App Recommendation tool  that is perfect to give you the apps you need for your device or desired learning activity. To get started, go to:  http://edtechteacher.org/ apps/#Begin Click on one of the two methods of finding apps. I'm going to look by learning activity. Choose what you want your students to do (love the emphasis on students as creators). Next, pick your device type. Voila! A list of apps for the Chromebook for digital storytelling. Test Review Google Doc Templates

Today we have a folder of free test review templates in Google Docs format for you to copy and edit to use in your classroom. Within the folder , you will find templates for illustrative notes, digital index cards, and a math/reading task card template. For some ideas on how to use task cards for test review,  click here . Simply  click here  to go to the folder and click "add to my drive". Then you can view and make a copy of any template you wish to use. These templates would be great to share on Google Classroom with your students.

Back up Files and GDrive

  It’s time to clean up your drives!   Here are a few best practices and tools to help you. Student/Staff Drives: It is a good idea to backup all files on your school based drives! We need to delete all files on "shared" drives and save to a flash drive. Tech services will be updating and refreshing our drives, so make sure you have important documents saved! Google Takeout: Go to:  https://www.google.com/settings/takeout To create an archive of all files on up to 16 different Google products including Drive. This process is free and very simple to save on a flash drive. 

Google Classroom App Update

This week Google has announced three great new features for the Google Classroom app available for iOS and Android. I am excited to announce you can now grade assignments and add comments to students work from the app. Also, you can take pictures with your device and add them to existing assignments. Lastly you can now create new assignments on your device with the Classroom app. Google has announced that one more update to the Classroom platform is coming before the end of the year.
